April is recognized as Fair Housing Month in the United States. This month-long observance was first established in 1968 following the passage of the Fair Housing Act, which prohibits discrimination in the sale, rental, and financing of housing based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status, and disability.
Every April, the National Association of REALTORS® hosts events and provides education that shine a light on housing discrimination and segregation. These resources include book recommendations, podcasts, and films/documentaries. View the NAR Fair Housing Month webpage here.
