Sol Avzaradel announces the John L. Scott-KMS Renton and Kent North offices will transition from franchise to company-owned

Market-leading franchise offices to build on storied 42-year legacy

John L. Scott Real Estate announces the Renton and Kent North offices will transition from franchise operations to company-owned offices. The official transition is underway, and was announced to their approximately 300 broker associates and support staff at a special event at the Hyatt Regency in Renton on Thursday, March 21.

The John L. Scott-KMS Renton and Kent North offices began as Kamas Realty, founded by owners Sol Avzaradel and Kolin Taylor in 1977. Both offices became John L. Scott franchises in 1992.

The long-term leadership team, led by Sol Avzaradel, Jim Willner, Albie Moshcatel and Shy Bundy will remain with their offices, providing ongoing support well into the future. The John L. Scott Renton and Kent North offices are two of the top producing real estate offices in the Northwest MLS adding approximately $1.5 billion in sales volume to the John L Scott company-owned brand throughout King and Pierce County.

“Year after year, our amazing team has earned the number one spot in South King County market share and consistently ranks at the top of per-agent production,” said Sol Avzaradel, owner and general manager of Renton and Kent North offices. “We chose to partner with John L. Scott Real Estate because their company is closely aligned with our unique culture and they are heavily invested in broker and client success. We know partnering with John L. Scott is the right move to maintain our reputation and further our support in marketing and technology offerings to our brokers, at the same time keeping our unique family culture intact.”

J. Lennox Scott, John L. Scott Real Estate’s Chairman and CEO, echoed Avzaradel’s sentiments, noting this acquisition was a strategic move for John L. Scott Real Estate as well as for the teams at Renton and Kent North.

“We are very excited for the continuation of our relationship with all the fine broker associates, support team and leadership team from one of the top franchise groups under the John L. Scott brand,” said Scott. “When we met with Sol 27 years ago to eventually bring Kamas Realty under the John L. Scott franchise umbrella, he said John L. Scott was the best-kept secret in real estate. From that day forward, Sol and his team led their offices to great success, and John L. Scott Real Estate has become one of the top 20 residential real estate brands in the nation.”

The John L. Scott Real Estate team tapped Steve Murray, the president and owner of REAL Trends, to advise on the acquisition. Murray, who has worked on numerous high-profile business decisions in the real estate industry over the years, said the acquisition of Renton and Kent North offices represents a merging of two very strong companies in the Puget Sound area.

“This acquisition is a match made in heaven, comprised of two companies with the industry’s best brand name, great caring leaders and a shared heritage.” said Murray. “We knew from the start of the process that this was like coming home for Sol, Kolin and the great people of their company. I was happy to help in the process.”

The addition of these two offices will bring the John L. Scott company-owned network to a total of 36 offices in Washington, Oregon and Idaho. The leadership teams at Renton and Kent North aim to grow the offices in the future, while also expanding services and support available to current broker associates.
