Demand remains high for homes in Thurston County

Unlike nearby counties, Thurston County’s number of pending and closed sales nearly matched last year’s levels. Affordability in the county has made the area continue to be hot for home buyers.

Washington is slowing down. And while it’s not quite a buyer’s market, it’s much closer than it has been in a while.

As previously reported, house-hunters in the state are facing a market with the largest supply of homes in three years, creating fewer bidding wars and a drop in pending sales (which, in turn, helps prices not skyrocket and creates fewer bidding wars). It’s not perfect; the region is still well below a balanced market. But it’s a shift in the right direction.

And brokers feel fairly confident that the market won’t be suddenly shifting clearly in the favor of buyers, let alone headed for a bubble.
