The Port Townsend Leader

January 25, 2017

The Jefferson County Association of Realtors raised more than $8,000 at its Holiday Party Auction and Installation of Officers hosted in December 2016.

Half of the proceeds go to the McKinney-Vento program implemented by public school districts in Jefferson County, which benefits homeless students. The other half of the proceeds go to the Real Estate Professionals for Affordable Housing (REPAH) nonprofit, which helps low-income homeowners with repairs. The REPAH program partners with OlyCAP, the Boeing Bluebills, and local businesses.

“It is incredibly important to thank all of the local businesses that donated items to make this a successful fundraiser,” said Terry Smith, a broker at Re/Max First in Port Townsend.

Steve Crosland with Windermere Real Estate in Port Townsend continues on the board for 2017, serving as copresident with Steve Kraght of John L. Scott Real Estate in Port Townsend.

Crosland said, “We Realtors live and work here in Jefferson County, and it’s important to continue to support our community.”

In Jefferson County, the McKinney-Vento program supports more than 90 homeless or at-risk students. In addition to the holiday fundraiser, the Realtors also included a fundraiser at their annual meeting for the Read to Rover Program, which is organized locally by Olympic Mountain Pet Pals, bringing dogs to sit in on reading sessions for second-graders in Chimacum and Port Townsend.
