Each year, Washington REALTORS® works with local associations to showcase REALTORS® , Partners, Affiliates, and Citizens who embody the REALTOR® spirit. These are members of our communities that volunteer, are actively engaged with their REALTOR® Associations, value the Code of Ethics, and serve as role models for others. The Awards ceremony revealing the award winners will be Wednesday, April 18th, at the Washington REALTORS® Spring Business Conference. “Our nominee for WR REALTOR Achievement Award meets your criteria to a tee. Susie Luby was a top producing broker in Spokane for over sixteen years. She was approached to serve as the Managing Broker for John L. Scott, Inc. Spokane in 2012/2013. Susie deemed it appropriate, in her new position, that she get involved with the Association, and that she did. Over the last six years she has served on at least six Association standing committees and numerous task forces and presidential advisory groups. She served as chair of the Association Multiple Listing Services Steering Committee, and a member of that committee for four years. Susie served on the Association’s Education Committee, Grievance and Professional Standards Committee and our Special Events Committee, chairing the Association’s Fun Night planning committee held in conjunction with WR Fall Business Conference in Spokane in 2016. Susie rose through the ranks of leadership in the Association, culminating with President of the Spokane Association of REALTORS® in 2016. She has also served on the WR Board of Directors, all this in a short time since accepting the position as Managing Broker of her company. A former U.S. Olympic Bronze Medalist in the downhill at the 1972 Winter Olympics. We are proud to nominate Susie Luby, past Managing Broker of John L. Scott, Inc. Spokane as the WR Achievement Award recipient.”
(2) Tom LaLone (posthumous) John L. Scott Spokane

“The Spokane’s REALTOR of the Year for 2017 and our nominee for WR’s 2018 REALTOR® of the Year is Tom LaLone. We make this nomination posthumously. Tom passed away this past September. Tom LaLone exemplified the professional REALTOR®. He served on numerous committee’s to include SAR’s Education Committee and Grievance Committee. He served as treasurer for two terms for the SAR and for on our Board of Directors for many years. Tom’s involvement with our Governmental Affairs Committee spanned nearly two decades. He also served on the WR Legislative Steering Committee as well as on the WR Board of Directors from 2014 to 2016. Our REALTOR® of the Year nominee was a graduate of Gonzaga University’s School of Business with a degree in Finance. Community volunteer activities includes being a member of Downtown Rotary 21 and a member of the Board of Directors and Treasurer of the Volunteer Nurses Association. In addition he was a volunteer at Providence Sacred Heart Children’s Clubhouse. Married for 53 years we nominate posthumously for WR REALTOR® of the Year, the consummate Professional, Tom LaLone.”
