After seeing a recent national news story featuring photos of residents in a Texas nursing home asking for pen pals, the John L. Scott Puyallup South Hill office administrator Carol Goodine was inspired to offer similar support to a local senior. She reached out to a local private care facility, Cardinals Cottage Adult Family Home, and found out that they have a gentleman in there that doesn’t have any family in the area and also recently said goodbye to his long-term caregiver who moved onto another position.
The man, HC, had expressed to the staff that he is very lonely and Carol – moved by his situation – suggested that the Puyallup South Hill office “adopt” him. Spearheading the effort, Carol and the office put together a care package of notes, balloons and other items he enjoys and dropped it off last weekend.
Carol said HC was very appreciative of the gift and she appreciated the opportunity to get to know him. She learned more about his past while chatting with him, including about his experience as a farmer and Air Force veteran. She added that the Puyallup South Hill office is excited to support HC as time goes on.
