Adam Shepard, a broker out of John L. Scott’s Portland-Northeast office, recently completed a run challenge with a fundraising twist. A member of Adam’s gym asked if he’d consider participating in the two-day challenge, which consisted of running two miles every four hours for 48 hours. In all, Adam ran 24 miles and decided to merge two of his passions with the challenge, running and supporting others through the John L. Scott Foundation.
Tapping his personal and professional network, Adam fund-raised throughout the run, posting videos and photos along the way. After reaching the $500 point, he held a vote whether he should shave his “corona mustache” or wear a 20 pound vest for the remaining runs – those following voted for the former and Adam was clean-shaven for the rest of the challenge. In all, he raised $1,043 for the John L. Scott Foundation!
“There were a few positive things that came out of this challenge,” said John L. Scott broker Adam Shepard. “First, I was amazed how many people on Facebook begin to follow the progress and donate to the John L. Scott Foundation. Others PMed me and shared that they appreciated seeing the positivity online or how they felt inspired to exercise and move their bodies. This time has taught me that we are stronger than we think, but we need to push ourselves and help each other.”
