Bellevue-based John L. Scott Real Estate company is approaching its 85 anniversary in October.
At the same time, Lennox Scott, the company’s chairman and CEO, is celebrating his own milestone — his 40th anniversary as third-generation leader of his family’s company.
JLS has 110 offices with more than 3,000 brokers in Washington, Oregon, California, and Idaho, half of whom work for the company and half who work in JLS-affiliated or franchise brokerages. The company is the second largest residential real estate broker in the Washington state and the fourth largest regional brand in the nation, according to Scott.
In 2015, John L. Scott finalized 36,800 transactions worth $12 billion in sales – up 15 percent year over year. Scott says they are on track better last year’s figures.
California is a new market for John L. Scott; the company opened two offices in the northern part of the state this year. “I say that is one small step across the Oregon border but one giant step for John L. Scott Real Estate, to borrow a phrase from Neil Armstrong,” Scott laughs. “We hope to be expanding all over California in coming years.”
