The pandemic was tough on the fundraising efforts of many nonprofits and other organizations in the past year, and the Stanwood-Camano Kiwanis Club was no exception. The community service organization was disappointed in the amount of scholarships they would be able to offer this year to Stanwood High School seniors. They club planned to host one final fundraiser, which was a yard sale, to try and boost their budget to provide as many scholarships as they have in the past.
After hearing about the fundraising difficulties faced by the Stanwood-Camano Kiwanis Club, John L. Scott Stanwood owner Kerry McGhie contacted the organization to offer a dollar-for-dollar match from John L. Scott Stanwood for the amount raised at the yard sale. Once the final fundraiser was completed, Kerry said she was honored to present the local Kiwanis a $2,500 check on behalf of the Stanwood office.
The Stanwood-Camano Kiwanis Club was thrilled with the donation. They shared that the $2,500 boost helped them not only present the same number of scholarships as they did last year, but they were able to earmark the small amount of funds left overĀ for next year’s scholarships!
