Seattle King County REALTORS® presents First Citizen Award virtual event

John L. Scott is sponsoring the upcoming 82nd annual First Citizen Award virtual event, honoring Tomio Moriguchi and his family!

On Thursday, March 25 at 4 p.m., Seattle King County REALTORS® are hosting their 82nd annual Seattle-King County First Citizen Award event. This virtual event is free to attend, and John L. Scott is one of the event sponsors! This annual award, which was created to honor those who devote themselves to the well-being and prosperity of our community, will be presented to Tomio Moriguchi and his family.

“Community treasure” Tomio Moriguchi is known for his lifetime of generosity and inspirational acts that transcend borders and generations. When Tomio Moriguchi retired as chairman and CEO of Uwajimaya at the end of 2017, Jim Wajone, who succeeded him as chairman of the family-owned specialty supermarket, praised him for his strategic leadership and vision. Outside that business, Moriguchi is revered for his volunteerism, generosity, advocacy, and dedication.

Moriguchi’s remarkable contributions and benevolence have enriched communities not only locally, but also internationally. Selfless community service by the Moriguchis dates to the company’s founder (Tomio’s father, Fujimatsu) and continues today with the third generation that includes Tomio’s daughter, Denise, who became the company’s CEO in early 2017.
