The John L. Scott Lake Tapps, Enumclaw and Tacoma North offices recently reached a huge milestone in their fundraising efforts for the Bonney Lake Food Bank – $20,000 in total donations! This initiative started in May 2019, after principal and designated broker Derek Eyring found out that the Bonney Lake Food Bank was struggling financially to keep its doors open. Derek challenged brokers and staff from these three offices to reach a donation goal of $20,000.
At first, this number seemed huge. But everyone happily stepped up to the plate, with many brokers voluntarily contributing portions of their commissions and staff donating portions of their paycheck said Madison Wakefield, the social media director of John L. Scott Lake Tapps. Then, industry colleagues at Evergreen Home Loans in Enumclaw jumped in to help as well, helping donations pour in even quicker.
“As an office, we all feel so blessed to have been able to continue to work throughout the uncertainty of COVID-19,” said Madison Wakefield. “Giving to the Bonney Lake Food Bank was the least we could do to show our appreciation and gratitude to the community who continued to trust us over the last seven months. Not only that, our food bank has been doing such incredible work and evolving in ways we’ve never seen, completely shifting their business model to a dignity-first approach.”
In total, around 22 people contributed, reaching the goal of $20,000 in August of 2020. Currently, the fundraised total is $22,640, and now the offices are working towards a new goal of reaching $30K in donations!
